The Greens of Ireland |
While in Ireland on a painting trip with other artist, we had a small bus that we took on a trip to Kerry. The breeze was nippy so I took photos of all the beautiful green landscapes until my batteries gave out. We stopped at the side of the road and every direction I looked was another painting just waiting. This pastel of the many greens and a small brook that had been dammed up to form a pond is a place I’ll always remember. The sound of the falling water in the quiet countryside was such a contrast to the Texas panhandle. |

Dusk From My Window |
In June of 2012, I had a spiral break of my leg and spent 6 weeks in a physical rehab hospital. The room was small and had 1 window. In the late evening when the sun had set, the sky would turn from pink to purple to dark blue and the trees beside a small lake would be silhouetted against the changing color. It was a beautiful ending to a busy day. There was no place to paint, so I sketched in a small book with oil pastels and when I was home, I painted a larger picture in soft pastels. |

Hermit's Peak |
I’ve seen Hermits peak west of Las Vegas, New Mexico in every season since the 1960’s, and have ridden horseback and hiked in the area. It is the first easily identified mountain I could see from I-40 and I-25. A friend told me which public roads and what forks in the road to take to get as close as I could on the north side. I wanted to see the colors and terrain to make an accurate painting. I was lucky to be there in early June when everything was green and contrasted with the rock! This is a framed oil painting. |
