Growing up in Ponca City, Oklahoma, Janette Dickerson has had drawing and painting as a part of her life since childhood. She won Scholastic Art Awards in high school and went on to study at Oklahoma State University with legendary instructors Doel Reed, Dale McKinney, Jay J. McVicker, and Elenor Evans — earning a Bachelor of Arts in Art with a minor in Education.
After serving as a graduate assistant in the OSU Art Department, she moved to Amarillo, Texas, where she has taught art in the public schools, at the Amarillo Museum of Art, and through private workshops. Years volunteering as a Docent at the Amarillo Museum deepened her eye for great art across history and cultures.
Janette paints plein air — outdoors, in the moment — and also uses photographs to study and recapture a place's particular light and mood. Her work is held in private collections across Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Washington, Massachusetts, and Paris, France.

A lifetime of learning & teaching
Janette has devoted decades to both making and sharing art. She has studied under master artists including Stephan Kramer, Ben Konis, Ramon Kelly, Stephen Napper, Albert Handell, Maggie Price, and Jo Beth Gilliam.
